Mining: 1-65 Horde/Alliance – Copper

Introduction

So you have started a new character, you should decide what professions you want to take and learn them right away. In this case, I guess you have chose mining and now you are wondering how to do it. If you have just picked up Mining as a level 80 character, you will have to ofcourse mine through the beginning zones – although you won’t have to worry about higher mobs. I have gathered the ideal mining routes for each race below so you can mine in your starting zone. As with the rest of the zone maps, just follow the route indicated and you will start finding mining nodes. Don’t forget – when you hit the your skill cap for that mining skill, you must return to the mining trainer and learn the next skill.

Although I have included maps and routes for mining, this is one of the most tedious and boring stages of the mining process. However, there is an alternative which I strongly recommend, you can smelt your way to 1-65 (Refer to the smelting table article). You can do this by purchasing the raw materials from the auction house, this is so much faster, but it can use up your gold in no time. I strongly recommend you check out this amazing guide. It will allow you to make the gold you need to get past this stage in no time. Do it!

Horde

Undead – Tirifal Glades – Pick a starting point and just follow the route, you will run into mining nodes! Don’t forget to keep checking the level of the mobs around you, dying will slow you down and you can skip sections if you need to.

1-65 Copper Ore Tirisfal

Orc/Troll – Durotar – Again, just follow the route starting anywhere, and don’t forget to enter the cave! There can be as many as 3 nodes in there.

1-65 Copper Ore - Durotar

Blood Elves – Eversong Woods – A very short route but just as efficient for mining. If you want a break from going in the same route, you can travel up and down the deadscar a couple of times as it is also great for mining – but watch out for the mobs!

1-65 Copper Ore Eversong

Tauren – Mulgore – Mobs shouldn’t be too much of a concern here, but watch out for the Venture Co mine if you are of a lower level.

1-65 Copper Ore Mulgore

Alliance

Human – Elwynn Forest - Use the caves, Follow the mountains and you can’t go wrong in Elywnn.

Night Elves – Darkshore – Darkshore is close to Darnassus and is the most ideal mining place for Night Elves. Again, walk down the mountain ides and use the caves.

Dwarves/Gnomes – Dun Morogh – This zone is pretty straight forward, follow the high density mountain side, use the 3 caves and raises in terrain.

Draenei – Azuremyt Isle – This is a high density zone, although there is a section on the left of the route by the side of the lake which isn’t that rich in ore.

Now what?

So now you’re level 65 in mining. Visit the article in the mining section for levels 66-125 where you will be mining Tin and Silver.
